traffic jam galleries is thrilled to represent an incredibly exciting and talented group of artists. Since mid-March 2012 traffic jam galleries is working in collaboration with law firm Collin Biggers & Paisley, and filled their reception area, hallways and boardrooms with pieces of art from a selection of our forty artists. The 35 works in their offices are being wonderfully promoted by CBP, who have a very supportive and enthusiastic arts program, and a percentage of profits from the sale of these works will be going to the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

“Whether it’s through a striking portrait, a tranquil landscape or an abstract bronze, art has the power to capture attention, spark conversation and take us on a journey of discovery. It’s fitting that our art exhibitions preside over the firm’s most popular meeting spots as they bring together people from many walks of life.” Dunstan de Souza, Managing Partner CBP Lawyers

traffic jam galleries in association with CBP will also be hosting events centred around this exhibition in the coming months to promote the art and artists, and continue to foster this creative and encouraging environment.

Jenny Green 1st Prize at the Sydney Royal Arts Show
Hawker-Pacific
We have just been told that Jenny Green has won 1st Prize in Miniature Sculpture at the Sydney Royal Arts Show for her piece Floralia. This is Jenny’s third 1st Prize in Miniature Sculpture, and fourth 1st Prize in total, at this show. Congratulations from everyone at traffic jam galleries!

The excitement is also building in the gallery for the opening of Jenny’s Beautopia Exhibition on the 3rd of May, with RSVP’s already streaming in.

Our exhibition side of the gallery is to be transformed into a sculptural sanctuary co-curated by Jenny herself, and the night is to be officially opened by our guest speaker Anne Maria Nicholson (Arts Reporter, ABC TV).

Hawker Pacific
Hawker-Pacific
It has been a great 2011, with many standout points for traffic jam galleries. One of which was, and still is, our partnership with Hawker Pacific, a well recognised aviation services company. Over the last few months we have filled the beautiful lounge and office areas at their Mascot FBO (Fixed Base of Operations), in Sydney. Currently around 15 works are there and these are continually changing. With a great response from Hawker Pacific and the public the exposure has been great, and the change of scenery, from gallery to private jets, is very exciting.

Here is a little bit about Hawker Pacific:
Hawker Pacific is a leader in aviation sales and product support, both civil and military. It takes the complexity out of owning, operating, servicing, leasing and modifying aircraft by offering a total solutions package. Their client list includes heads of state, defence forces, emergency services, specialist agencies, major corporations and private customers.
Expect to hear more regarding this, and other business partnerships, in the near future.

2011 – Wrap Up
As the year is now coming to a close traffic jam galleries would like to recognise and recap a few of the moments throughout 2011 that made our first year of operation such a pleasure. Now we would hate to labour on with a novel sized rendition of the year, but more take you through points during our start up that we will never forget. MORE

Collaboration With Morrisons Mercedes Chatswood
As of early October 2011 traffic jam galleries has been in partnership with Morrisons Mercedes in Chatswood, Sydney. We currently have six large Nicholas Daunt works in their showroom and as of January 2012 we will be changing this exhibition over and featuring a mixed selection of artists. The partnership has been extremely well received with members of the public travelling to Morrisons to see the works and Morrisons sending clients to traffic jam galleries. As the wall is nearly 30 metres long it is a great space to be able to exhibit a number of very large paintings all together effectively. We will also be collaborating with Morrisons Mercedes in the first half and throughout 2012 for special events focusing on the both brands working in unison.

Tramway Lane
Four of traffic jam galleries Artists, Jenny Green, Danielle McManus, Jane Petell-Litten and Rebecca Pierce, walking the crossing at the recently named Tramway Lane, on the evening of the opening of the 'Spectator & Observer Thematic Exhibition on 30th June 2011. Tramway Lane is on the Eastern boundary of traffic jam galleries which links Military Rd with Falcon St and forms one of the boundaries of 'The Island'.

Portraits
We are very proud to note than Jane Pestell-Litten has entered this year’s Archibald Prize and Dallas Bromley the Sulman.
Dallas Bromley, Starr and Jane Pestell-Litten are accomplished portrait artists; they can be commissioned for portraits please contact the gallery for further information. A recent commission, Starr is working on two separate pieces of a mother and son.

Dallas Bromley
Dallas first began painting Christine Anu as an entry for the Archibald Prize. Christine is Australia’s most well known entertainer, actor and singer of Torres Strait Islander descent. She was born in Cairns and many of her family members live in Townsville and Cairns.
Starting with a smaller portrait as a study, Dallas then moved to a large painting which was a full length life-size portrait, combined with an elegant study of Christine’s facial profile.
Dallas says - “What a wonderful time I had when I was painting Christine! It was amazing to hear her stories of Torres Strait Island life, of the songs that her Mother would sing to her, of historic events about her Grandfather and other men of their clan being a part of Australia's defence during the war, of ancestry, family, and the journey from childhood to adult life. The painting of Christine is layered with phrases, memories and items of spiritual significance to her and her family - the cassowary being her family emblem. She has an incredible voice and the most interesting and amazing ancestry”.
After entering the Archibald Prize, Dallas then submitted the portrait of Christine for the Xstrata Percival Portrait Prize at the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery in Townsville, which is one of Australia’s largest portrait awards, in which she was selected to be hung.
The Perc Tucker Regional Gallery have now acquired Dallas’ portrait of Christine Anu as part of the permanent collection of the gallery.
